Civil War Reenactments

Our summer will be full of outings and adventure this year as we embark on a full season of Living History with the WCWA and our unit the 12th US Regular Army, the girls and I will of course be portraying a family from NY that is back home waiting for our men who are at war.

The Washington Civil War Association  is the group we belong to and do our reenactments with (you can click  on the link for dates of the events). There are plenty of events all over Washington State and even some in Oregon that we may attend. I am having my dress made by Lavenders Green. and I am so excited to be making the girls dress myself with some help from a friend.
This dress was made by Lavenders Green, I love the shimmer and added designs, my dress will be much simple, more of an every day dress.  We chose a simple green calico for my dress. I cannot wait for it to arrive in just a few weeks.

The girl's dresses will have pinner aprons I think, instead of just waist ones, or full cover ones if I have time to sew them.

I purchase the fabric and pattern for their dresses at Abraham's Lady in Gettysburg when we travelled through last fall. Keith was able to find their uniforms and extras at C & C Sutlery and the rifles were purchased elsewhere.

Blizzard blog hop

I joined in on the Blizzard Blog hop via household6diva Feel free to check out the nearly 200 who are linked in so far. My name is Nicole and I blog over at Be Anxious for Nothing  . I have been at this blogging thing for a few years and love the opportunity it gives me to see other women wanting to be an encouragement to those they can even via the web. I blog mostly about what matter to me,  my family and my faith. I have been married to my man for 16 + years and have 3 wonderful children.  I love the Ocean - here we are at the beautiful Outer Banks of NC. We woke the children at 525 AM to see the sunrise and none of them even complained.  I can usually be found with some form of coffee with in a few feet of me. I love sunrises and sunsets, and taking photos when the opportunity arrives. We built our first home in 2009 and this past summer I grew my first 'tiny' garden. The tomatoes were a big hit. This is the love of my life, we w...

45 & Counting

The days ahead of my birthday were filled with wonderful times, friends and reflection on my part. I'm blessed to have these handful of ladies to be doing life with right now. They challenge me in striving to lean on God, look to His Word in scripture and I'm reminded I'm loved, as well to humble myself. They all love Jesus and each adds a great JOY to my days.  I've been given a life underserved. With days of grace and mercy, He pours out on me, a love I still don't fully comprehend.  The richness of blessing that is my husband. His amazing example of love through serving. I was spoiled for days, with dinner, gifts, breakfast, more gifts, lunch, flowers, and yes more gifts. In all things, I'm full beyond words with a grateful heart.  The weekend leading up to my birthday, I had the opportunity to attend IF: Local here in Yakima.  We were given the verse:  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their hom...
